Palmetto State Rides โ Driver Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: April 2026
By applying to drive with Palmetto State Rides, LLC (“PSR,” “the Company”), and by using any PSR systems, platforms, portals, or communication channels, you acknowledge and agree to the following Terms & Conditions. These policies govern your relationship with PSR as an independent contractor and apply to all rides, communications, platform usage, and driver activities.
1) Acceptance of Terms
By submitting the Driver Agreement form, applying to drive with PSR, or accepting rides through PSR, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by:
- These Driver Terms & Conditions
- PSR safety, scheduling, and communication policies
- Any additional policies posted on the PSR website or sent through official channels
Continued use of PSR systems constitutes acceptance of any updates.
2) Independent Contractor Status
- You operate strictly as a 1099 independent contractor, not an employee.
- You are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, licenses, and legal compliance.
- You set your availability and accept rides you can fulfill reliably and safely.
- You may not represent yourself as an employee or agent of PSR.
3) Professional Conduct & Safety
Drivers must:
- Arrive on time for every ride.
- Provide courteous, non-discriminatory, harassment-free service.
- Maintain sobriety and zero impairment while on duty (alcohol, drugs, medication misuse).
- Follow all traffic laws at all times.
- Confirm rider identity and destination before departure.
- Prioritize seatbelt use and safe transportation.
- Immediately report incidents, breakdowns, safety concerns, or confrontations to PSR.
- Never carry weapons in violation of local or state law.
Video cameras/dashcams are strongly recommended and may be required for certain premium services.
4) Vehicle Requirements
All vehicles operating on the PSR platform must:
- Be clean, safe, mechanically sound, and free of major cosmetic damage.
- Be fully insured with active personal auto insurance.
- Meet PSR vehicle class requirements for Standard, XL, Van, or Touring categories.
- Comply with PSR branding (decals/emblems), equipment, and safety accessory requirements.
- Comply with all legally required child-safety laws and equipment requirements when transporting minors.
Drivers are responsible for ensuring passengers exit safely before leaving a drop-off location.
5) Booking, Scheduling & Punctuality
- All PSR rides are pre-scheduled. Accepting a ride reserves your time block, and you must remain available for the duration.
- Drivers must mark arrival, start, and completion using the PSR system when applicable.
- Never double-book or abandon a scheduled ride.
- Notify PSR immediately if you are running late or cannot complete a ride.
- For airport and high-priority rides, arrive 5 minutes early at the pickup point.
- Drivers may receive ride notifications based on PSR dispatch timing, including rides approaching the protected 1-hour pre-pickup window.
Repeated lateness, cancellations, or no-shows may result in suspension or removal.
6) Reserved Time, No-Show & Wait Policy
Grace Period: 5 minutes after arrival.
After the grace period, the following wait-time fees may apply:
- Standard: $10 per additional 10 minutes
- XL: $20 per additional 10 minutes
- Van: $15 per additional 10 minutes
Drivers must notify dispatch if a passenger is unreachable or refuses to respond.
If a ride cannot legally proceed because the passenger does not have required child-safety equipment or another legally required child-safety arrangement, the trip may be treated as a no-show or failed pickup under PSR policy.
7) Cancellation Policy
Passenger cancellations:
- More than 1 hour before pickup: No cancellation fee
- Within 1 hour of pickup or after dispatch: The cancellation fee is the first time block rate for the booked ride
Dispatch may waive fees for severe weather, safety concerns, or verified emergencies.
Drivers are typically notified of scheduled rides beginning within the protected dispatch window. Once a ride is within 1 hour of pickup or has been dispatched, driver time has been reserved and the ride becomes eligible for the applicable cancellation fee if canceled by the passenger.
8) Special Fees & Documentation
- Clean-Up / Biohazard (vomit): $250 flat fee. Driver must submit timestamped photos within 1 hour of the incident.
Drivers may not impose additional fees outside of approved PSR fee categories.
9) Customer Data, Privacy & Referrals
- All customer data, trip details, communications, routing, and personal information are Company property.
- Drivers must protect customer privacy and may not store, sell, or misuse data.
- Direct solicitation of PSR customers outside the PSR platform is prohibited.
Referral System:
- Use only PSR-approved referral tools (QR codes, driver profile pages).
- Referral donations and rewards are governed by the Driver System rules posted online.
10) Insurance, Liability & Compliance
Drivers must:
- Maintain active personal auto insurance and any required endorsements.
- Always carry proof of insurance and registration.
- Comply with all state and local driving laws.
PSR is not responsible for citations, violations, accidents caused by driver negligence, or unreported incidents.
11) Suspension & Termination
Grounds for suspension or permanent removal include, but are not limited to:
- Unsafe driving
- Misconduct, harassment, or discrimination
- Repeated lateness, cancellations, or no-shows
- Fraud or dishonesty
- Failure to follow PSR policies
- DUI or impairment while driving
- Gross misconduct or customer endangerment
Reinstatement is at the sole discretion of PSR following review.
12) Policy Updates
PSR may update these Terms & Conditions at any time to reflect safety requirements, legal changes, or operational improvements. Continued use of the platform after updates constitutes acceptance. The latest version is always available on the Company website.
13) Additional Stops & Route Changes
Any additional stop, route change, or service request made during a PSR ride must follow PSR policy and may not be handled as a private side agreement between driver and passenger.
- Drivers may not negotiate or collect separate off-platform payments for additional stops during a PSR ride.
- Any approved extra stop or route change must be processed according to PSR procedures.
- Drivers may decline any stop or change that creates a safety, legal, timing, or operational issue.
- Drivers may not represent unauthorized stop charges as official PSR pricing.
- Unauthorized off-platform arrangements with PSR passengers may result in suspension or removal from the platform.
PSR reserves the right to determine whether an added stop, route change, or service adjustment is permitted under Company policy.
14) Hold Harmless Agreement
The driver agrees to hold PSR harmless from damages, claims, or losses arising from:
- Driver negligence or unlawful behavior
- Violations of local, state, or federal law
- Unreported incidents or accidents
- Personal business conducted outside PSR
- Unauthorized stops or services not booked through PSR
15) Acknowledgment
By submitting your driver application, joining the PSR platform, or accepting rides through PSR, you affirm that:
- You have reviewed and understand these Terms & Conditions.
- You agree to comply with all policies listed above.
- You certify all information provided to PSR is accurate and up to date.
